How to Import a Converted .mrpack ZIP into Prism Launcher

Prism Launcher has native .mrpack support, so a ZIP detour is not strictly required. But if you have already converted to ZIP — for example because the modpack you want is no longer on Modrinth — here is how to import it cleanly.

Two paths

Path A — Native .mrpack import (recommended when possible)

  1. Open Prism Launcher

Click Add Instance in the top toolbar.

  2. Choose "Import from ZIP"

Despite the name, this option accepts both .zip and .mrpack.

  3. Select your file

Prism will auto-detect a Modrinth manifest and configure the instance accordingly.

Path B — Import a converted ZIP manually

  1. Create a blank instance

Add Instance → choose Minecraft version and loader.

  2. Open the instance folder

Right-click the instance → FolderMinecraft Folder.

  3. Extract the ZIP

Drop the contents — mods/, config/, etc. — into the .minecraft subfolder.

  4. Launch

Click play and verify the main menu loads.

When to prefer ZIP over native .mrpack

  • The modpack was removed from Modrinth, but you have a local .mrpack
  • You want to edit the mod list before importing
  • You are sharing the pack with someone using a non-Modrinth launcher
